It’s All in the Detail

So why should you choose a wine cooler? Firstly, you will save on precious storage space in your fridge

Secondly, you will keep your wine in better condition in a specialised storage environment.

Your household fridge fluctuates in temperature every time you open the door. The interior light has an impact on the quality and moving bottles around too much can also harm the wine.

As you cannot store red wines in the fridge, they are then often left out. Here they will suffer from exposure to UV light, cooking smells and huge variations in temperature.

A CDA freestanding or built-in wine cooler will maintain a stable temperature that’s right for both red and white wide due to the innovative dual temperature zones (only available in larger 60cm wide models). It will also track and control any vibrations, protect from UV light infiltration, and keep corks from drying out by monitoring and regulating humidity levels with the built in humidifier.

We also offer integrated wine coolers capable of storing up to 57 bottles. Integrated wine coolers give a sleek, streamlined look that can be built into your kitchen cabinetry. These are perfect for installing at eye level to create an eye catching feature in your kitchen design.

What is the difference between a wine cooler and a wine fridge?

In reality, the terms ‘wine cooler’ and ‘wine fridge’ are used almost interchangeably.

Technically, a wine fridge should be used to store wine for longer periods of time. They’re engineered to provide perfect temperatures and humidity levels for wine that is being stored for years, even decades, to mature. They tend to be bigger and can also be more decorative – the cost of luxury wine can make them a display item and they’re usually reserved for posh restaurants.

In contrast, a wine cooler is for more short term storage. Weeks, months or a year at most. They tend to be smaller because bottles aren’t kept in them as long.

Is a wine cooler worth it?

If you’re laying down wine for an extended period of time, then a wine fridge or cooler is definitely a worthwhile investment.

When you store your wine in your kitchen fridge, you are at the mercy of all the other items in it. Avoiding spoiled meat is an understandable priority over keeping your wine at the perfect temperature. However, dramatic temperature changes or chilling them too far can impair the taste of your wine and it should be avoided where possible.
