Designer magazine asked “some of the industry’s leading appliance brands for their views on what’s driving developments in energy efficiency in their market-and what innovations we can expect to see in the future…” David Thacker, Marketing Manager at CDA, says “Rising energy costs have made consumers much more aware of the benefits of energy saving appliances. Well publicised figures on annual running costs have made buyers think hard about the value of A+ rated cooling but one thing consumers don’t seem to consider so much is water. It isn’t the water bill that causes the pain-it is the cost of heating it in a dishwasher or washing machine. Reducing the amount of water needed for a wash in either appliance reduces energy costs and is also environmentally responsible. At CDA, we are working hard to reduce water and energy use in all our appliances and are currently working on a major European funded project to develop a water and energy saving washer dryer.”
