Why will my oven not heat up?
Firstly, check that the timer on your oven has not been set to come on. This will prevent you using the oven until the preset time has been reached. If the timer has been set, you will need to cancel this in order to use your oven now.
If this is not the problem, is the clock flashing 0:00? If it is, there may have been a power cut which would reset your oven clock. The oven will not cook without the clock being set. You can get back up and running again quickly by using the arrows on your programmable clock to scroll through the hours and minutes to set the time and then start cooking.
Alternatively, has the oven been set to an automatic cooking programme? If so, the cooking time and function will have already been predetermined, which will prevent you from using the oven for any ‘freestyle’ cooking. Why is air blowing out of the top of the oven door?
Don’t panic! This is totally normal. The cooling fan inside the oven is in operation and works to blow air out through the vent at the top of your oven door, just below the control panel. This is an important function that keeps the control panel cool to the touch, preventing the cook from burning their fingers when altering the controls during cooking.
When I open the oven door a blast of hot air escapes, why is this?
Simply because hot air rises…The fan in your oven works to circulate the hot air in the oven, cooking the food efficiently. Naturally, the hot air will want to reach the top of the oven and beyond. This is why, when you open the oven door there is a short, 2 second or so, delay before hot air rushes out from the top of your oven to the ceiling. While this is totally normal, it is something to bear in mind when opening the door to remove food. Keep your hands and face away from the oven cavity for just a few seconds after opening to give the hot air time to escape safely into the room, and not straight at you.
When I turn off the oven the cooling fan keeps going, why does this not switch off?
The fan inside your oven has more than one job. As well as circulating hot air around the oven cavity to create an even cooking temperature it also works after cooking has finished to bring the oven cavity down to a safe temperature as quickly as possible. The time it remains turning for depends on the temperature that your oven was cooking at, the higher the temperature the longer the fan will run for, and the ventilation surrounding your oven that will allow ambient air to help cool the appliance.
Why is the enamel flaking off the inside of my oven?
The enamel should not come off the interior of your oven. Are the pieces that are coming off shiny and black? If they are then the debris is more than likely to be carbonised food as opposed to enamel. This simply needs wiping away.
If the oven enamel has really come away from the oven interior you will be able to see a dent in the surface of the oven cavity. You will also be able to see the silver colour of the uncoated oven cabinet.
If the enamel has in fact come away from the oven cavity wall, have you placed something on the base of the oven? If so, this may have prevented heat from escaping from the base oven element, causing overheating and subsequent, irreparable damage.
Why is my appliance completely dead?
If the oven is not working at all, have you checked the fuse and socket? Try unplugging the oven and plugging it in to an alternative power source to eliminate the power source or your household electrics being a factor in the appliance failure. If it is not working after you have eliminated these causes, our team of technical experts will be able to help you investigate further. The oven is not heating up, but the oven light works.
If the light works, there is definitely power to the appliance. This problem most likely indicates that you have a problem with one or both of the oven elements, for the cooking function that you have selected. If you have a multifunction oven, try using a different oven function to enable you to keep cooking until your engineer comes out to repair or replace the broken element.
Why is my oven taking so long to heat up?
If one of the elements in your oven has failed, it will take much longer to preheat. Alternatively, check the door seal on your oven. If there is a problem with this, heat could be escaping from the oven cavity and prolonging the time needed to heat up the oven cavity.

Help. The door seals have come loose.
The door seals are not glued into place. They are attached with four clips. You can double check that these clips are in place and securely holding the door seal before contacting the Customer Care team to see if you require a new seal to fix the problem. We will happily send you one out to get you back up and cooking again.
The cupboard doors near my oven appear to be scorched by the heat from the oven.
Firstly, check the door seals on your oven. If they are not properly in place, heat may escape from around the oven door and cause heat damage to the surrounding cabinets.
You can also check with your cabinet supplier to see what heat the kitchen cabinetry can withstand. It should be specially designed to be used as part of your oven housing.
Has the oven housing been installed with sufficient ventilation around the appliance? Click here to search for your appliance model number and refer to the ventilation diagram in the appropriate instruction manual. If there is insufficient ventilation, the hot air will not be able to escape effectively, causing the cabinetry to become too hot. If this is the case, adjustments will need to be made to the kitchen units to allow for more ventilation around the oven.
Why is my gas oven burning the base of food?
Do you have a gas oven? CDA gas ovens are fitted with a continental burner, as opposed to the traditional gas burner that you may be used to. The different positioning of the continental style may take a little getting used to as it efficiently projects heat upwards through the oven cavity.
Try placing a baking tray in the oven, beneath the level at which you are cooking the food to deflect the intensity of the heat.
Why does my oven burn one side of cakes?
Check which function you are using to cook the cake with. We recommend a ‘conventional’ oven setting for the best results. *insert icon here* Using the correct cooking function is key to achieving perfect results. The conventional setting provides a perfect, central cooking temperature from both the top and bottom elements. The fan oven setting blows hot air across food for faster cooking, which is not ideal for baking as it can flatten or prevent rising and burn the edges. Delicate items are best baked without the use of a fan.
My oven is burning all of my food.
If you are using the highly efficient fan setting on your oven, you may need to reduce the temperature. Fan assisted cooking can reduce the required temperature setting by up to 10%, due to how quickly it cooks and circulates hot air. Try reducing the temperature setting to see if this improves results.
Where do I find the model number and serial number?

How do you turn on an electric oven?

My oven is missing grill pan handles.
CDA ovens are not supplied with grill pan handles. Now that our range features ‘closed door grilling’, it would not be safe to include handles that are not suitable to be subjected to the full heat of an electric grill, inside the oven.
How do you clean the oven door glass?
Our oven door glass is designed to be quickly and simply removed for easily cleaning and maintenance. Simply unclick the two black ‘locks’ on either edge of the inside of your door glass and slide the door glass out to clean and dry, before replacing.
To remove cooking grease and debris from your oven door glass, prepare a mixture of ¼ cup of bicarbonate of soda with just enough water to mix into a paste and spread this over the door glass. Leave to work on loosening the dirt for 15-20 minutes and then rinse and dry.
How do you clean the enamel interior?
If you are using an ‘off the shelf’ oven cleaner, please ensure that it has the Vitreous Enamel Association logo, to ensure that it is safe to use on your oven interior.
Alternatively, using a warm solution of detergent and water should remove most of the dirt and residue. If you have stubborn, burnt on grease you can use the bicarbonate of soda and water mixture listed previously, leaving it to work for 15-20 minutes before rinsing and drying the oven interior.
What is causing the vibration on my fan oven?
Check to see if the oven is secure in the oven housing. If it is loose, it could vibrate and ‘rattle’ during cooking.
If the cooking/recirculating fan inside, at the back of the oven cavity is the cause of the rattling you will need an engineer to come out and secure it properly to fix the problem.
The oven is tripping the electrics.
Firstly, check the power supply to the appliance is large enough for the oven requirements. You can read the required power supply figure on the rating plate. If this is OK then you may want to ask a qualified/competent person to double check that there are no problems with the socket.
Once you have eliminated these problems, check to see if the oven trips when you use all or just some of the cooking function settings. If it trips when you use all of them, the power supply will need checking for faults. If your oven only trips when you use a specific oven function, one element may have failed in the appliance and will need replacing.
The timer alarm is very quiet.
Most of our timers have a pre-set volume and cannot be adjusted. However, some CDA oven models feature a three point adjustment in the menu. Why is there condensation when I use the grill or oven functions?
Condensation forming on the inner door glass and panel, causing dripping or pooling onto the base of the oven is a normal occurrence during closed door grilling-nothing to worry about! The quantity of water will depend on the type of food being cooked as well as the duration of grilling time. To reduce the condensation, you can preheat the oven at the set temperature before putting the food into the oven cavity.
