FAQ – Sinks

How do I find the serial number for my sink?

Sinks do not have serial numbers.

My stainless steel sink is scratching.

Remove dishes and cutlery promptly as these objects can cause scratching if mishandled.

Cleaners that are too abrasive can dull the sink and corrosive chemicals, commonly found in food and drink, can leave stains and damage the sink leaving it prone to scratching. Keep wet sponges and cloths out of the sink as these can harbour harmful salts and acids.

Using a light scouring pad, remove any scale build-up, following the grain of the stainless steel, and buff out any light scratches.

My stainless steel sink has stains in it.

Tea and coffee and other substances will stain the sink if they are not rinsed away. To clean these off, use a cleaner such as ‘bar keeper’s friend’ or biological washer powder, make into a solution or paste and rub the marks, rinse off with clean water and buff dry.

How do I find the model number for my sink?

You will need to refer to the user manual or your receipt for this information.

My stainless steel sink is rusting.

Rust forms from the presence of iron within drinking water, it reacts with the sink and causes a red stain which is associated with rust.

To prevent rusting, rinse the sink well after use every time. Also, remove any containers from the sink that have a metal bottom as this reacts with the water and causes rust.

Using cleaning products containing bleach will only worsen the problem, chemicals within the bleach react with the rust and make the stain more visible. A good home remedy is to mix one part lemon juice with one part baking soda into a paste and apply it to the rust patch using a sponge, rinse well afterwards.
